Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI) ACM Student Chapter has recently conducted an "All Pakistan Software Competition, Softcom 08". The event was held from 7th to 9th of November and teams from all over the country gathered for the event in Topi, NWFP.

A three-member team from UCP, Atif Amin, Sheheryar Aamir and Rana Zeeshan Pervaiz, participated in the event with their BS Final Project entitled "Virtual PICS with Navigational Support". The project is a 3D Virtual tour of UCP built on a gaming engine developed by the students under the supervision of Prof. Nabeel Sabir Khan. After evaluation and discussion by four judges appointed by the organizers, the team from UCP was declared Winner of All Pakistan Multimedia Software Competition.

Over 25 teams participated from all over the country including prestigious institutions such as LUMS, FAST, UET, PU, NUST, IET, GIKI, COMSAT, and GCU among others. The winners were announced in an award ceremony on the final day of the event. It featured keynote addresses from several Judges, the Pro-Rector, Dean GIKI and the Chief Guests.
